General Conference Registration Details

The Global Methodist Church’s convening General Conference in San Jose, Costa Rica, September 20-26, is drawing closer. More than one-third of the provisional annual conferences have now elected their delegates and alternates. Most delegates will have been elected by June 15. The Transitional Commission on the Convening General Conference is coordinating complex details associated with this history-making gathering.

Some provisional annual conferences have completed the election of their delegates, and we know that these individuals are eager to register for the Conference and finalize air travel and housing reservations. As announced previously, a centralized system is being developed to handle registration for the Conference, securing hotel reservations in hotels where the GM Church has contracted rooms at preferred rates, and making reservations for air travel to and from Costa Rica. Finalizing the elements of this centralized system has been very complicated, but the team working on the system anticipates it will be operational in a couple of weeks.

Once the system is operational, the GM Church anticipates launching the registration process promptly, enabling delegates and alternates to secure your attendance at the conference. The number of observers able to be present in the convention center is limited by the capacity of the venue so persons planning to observe the gathering are encouraged to confirm their ability to do so by registering through our system. Access passes will only be available through that system. When you register, you will automatically be connected with our trusted travel agency to facilitate your travel arrangements including airline reservations. This ensures that you will benefit from the very best airline rates and schedules available.

You will also be seamlessly connected with our hotel reservation system to book a room within one of our specially arranged hotel blocks. These hotel blocks offer reduced rates at vetted hotels and provide exclusive amenities that may not be available at non-GM Church block hotels. It's important to note that reserving a room at a non-GM Church hotel may result in various inconveniences. You could risk losing access to GM Church contracted ground transportation system, find yourself in an unvetted hotel with a potentially less desirable experience, and be isolated from other conference participants. Choosing a non-GMC hotel could unnecessarily expose you to added safety risks by staying in areas away from our vetted hotels.

We are committed to providing you with the best possible experience during our historic convening General Conference, and choosing accommodations within our designated hotel blocks is an essential part of ensuring your comfort, convenience, and safety throughout the event.

We will keep you updated as developments progress. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to finalize the registration details.

We can’t wait to see you in Costa Rica!
